Has your knowledge from this class changed the way you listen to music now or at all?

Has your knowledge from this class changed the way you listen to music now or at all?

This class has exposed me to more art forms then I could have thought of. I was taken to where each art form started and that has been the biggest takeaway from it this semester. I enjoyed seeing all of the different types and forms of art and especially where they came from. The origination of a new art is always very interesting. A lot of times, the art has not caught on right away with society. This made me realize new ways and new forms of art may take time to catch on with the general public and society.

As far as my music taste goes, I think they have stayed the same for the most part. I am aware of the genres I like and can listen to. If anything has changed about my music tastes, it would be my openness to new music forms and genres. Even if it isn't new music, I think I am more open now to listen to music I never used to listen to before. Music is very mood specific and I think that depending on the mood I am in will determine what song is playing on my phone.

Daily Post 4/20 Favorite Song

Daily Post 4/20 Favorite Song

I liked todays class topic on music. I like a pretty big variety of music and genres. I don't have one particular favorite genre as this depends on my mood. I have playlists on Spotify for all my moods and activities. I have a workout playlist, driving playlist, and even a party playlist.

With summer approaching, I had to choose this song that Luke Bryan recently came out with. This song puts me in a summer mood. The music video is great as well. I enjoy the lyrics and I also enjoy the music video that is paired with it. Also with Luke Bryan currently hosting American Idol, I feel it is very suiting for me to use him as my favorite song right now. His music genre is country but I feel like it is a top 40/country song due to Luke Bryans fame.

On a side note, Luke Bryan is who got me into liking country music. I saw him in concert and also watch him on American Idol. He is also currently the highest paid country music star now.

3 Broadway Shows Post

3 Broadway Shows Post
For this assignment we had to watch 3 different broadway shows. The first video I watched was from Wicked. I saw this show years ago in NYC. I loved this show. It was a very enjoyable show to watch. I also saw the passion in the actors as they were up on stage. The second clip I watched was from The Lion King. I never saw this show on broadway but I don't think I want to. After seeing the latest Lion King movie, I think thats the best way to experience the story. The theatrical experience of the new Lion King is way better than any live performance of it. The third and final clip I watched was from Grease. I have seen Grease 1 and Grease 2. I think this time around, I enjoyed the broadway show better. The experience was better because Grease is such a musical experience.
Overall, I think they were all great but have the best viewing experience in live or cinema style. It's just dependent on the show.

Todays class was very cool. It was about robots and technology. Robots are a big deal in the modern world. Especially in commercial and industrial settings. Robots are a part of big business and making a lot of hard tasks simple. I believe that robots are going to replace a lot of jobs in the near future. Whether it's robots or automating everyday tasks with computers, everything seems to be replaceable at some point by a computer. I have been seeing a lot of ads for robots that cook in restaurants. The robots are able to grill and fry. They have temperature sensors to be able to grill meats perfectly. The technology is incredible. This can be very useful in burger joints or steak houses when the meat temperature is asked upon ordering your food. I was also on a cruise last summer and they had a robotic bartender that could make any drink you entered in on an iPad. The future of automation and robot technology is inevitable.

Class was fun today, we watched a video that was showing the possibility of life being a simulation that we are just living in. I thought this was a very interesting take on life. I do not think we are in a simulation, however I think there is an afterlife and there is more after our time on Earth. I think that we re just passing though our time on Earth and that there will be more when our time is up. I do not think that we are going through life as a simulation, I think that life on Earth is an element of the universe. Life is a gift and I think eventually we will move on to the after life.

I enjoyed todays class. We looked at a lot of examples of TV and how it has changed over time. Television shows used to be so much different back when TV first started becoming popular. The colors, audio, and camera angles changed drastically. The only older show I used to watch all the time was Golden Girls. I watched this when I was young and have a lot of memories watching this show, especially with my dad.

Class 3/23
My favorite part about todays class was learning about photography and film. I enjoyed the video about the photo gun. I also like seeing past students videos on the projects we have to do. This gives me ideas for what I can do with mine.

Daily Post 3/16

This class was my first online class experience due to COVID-19. It is a big adjustment compared to attending classes. Personally, I like the flexibility of Zoom/online classes but I prefer the in classroom experience. Especially this class, I enjoyed attending class on Monday nights having my brain filled with ideas for projects. It's hard to be as creative and open to ideas when everything is virtual.

I enjoyed class a lot today. We learned a lot about film and photography. We talked about the camera obscura. This was very new to me. I've only taken one other class where we focused on photography and cameras, so it was a little bit of a learning curve to understand it fully. This was an interesting topic for me because I enjoy learning about film and photography. I learned that "camera obscura" in latin means "dark chamber", which is an accurate way of describing it.

Madame Butterfly Video Game

Madame Butterfly Video Game
Turning Madame Butterfly into a video game would be very challenging. It would have to be a very cinematic video game. I would want the game to be very interactive with cinematic like cut scenes to show the beauty of the Opera.
I also want it to be a tailored experience to the player. I want the characters to be more customizable and up to the players discretion on what they look like.
The storyline would follow the same format as the real thing, but there will be variable outcomes and endings that are dependent upon the player choosing the in game options.

I think if given enough thought and input into scenarios and decision making, the game would be very fun. With the addition of the customizable options for how the players look and controlling what they think (making decisions) I think it would be great.

Madame Butterfly Opera Animation

Madame Butterfly
In class, we watched an Opera called Madame Butterfly.
We also watched an animation based on the Opera. I think the animation was a little more intimate than the performance. The performance seemed more open.
The animation showed a child that was a girl and the performance showed a boy.
The animation was very graphic showing the umbilical cord.

The animation was very in depth when it came to the individuals having an affair and child. The animation was still very unique and beautiful showing Madame Butterfly in this light.

2/24 Class

Todays class wasn't about Opera, it was about musicals and Broadway. We discussed Jazz music and watched some cabaret performances.
I've heard about Black Face before, it was very cool to dive deeper into it.

I liked learning about the top 5 Operas. I was familiar with all of the titles and I had no idea that they were considered Operas.

We also talked about the period "DaDa" and it was very cool to learn about this time that changed a lot of what goes on in the art world. I was unaware of DaDa but it was cool to learn about that time and how it affected performance art.

Howard Goodall Big Bang 3 Opera

Howard Goodall Big Bang 3 Opera
In class we watched a video of Howard Goodall discuss the history of the Opera. What stood out to me was the country of origin which is France and Italy. I also enjoyed learning how everything started with the Opera.
Different forms of Opera include Baroque, Classical, and Romantic. Each is its own unique form of art.
I also learned that Opera was also used as propaganda and to spread political messages. I would never have guessed this is what Opera was used for before.

2/17 The Opera

The Opera
Today in class we learned about Opera. I never knew much about Opera. I have never gone to see one nor do I have an interest in listening to it. I always thought it was very dramatic and tragic performances with loud singing. However, I thought it was really interesting learning how only little boys used to be in choirs because of their higher voices. Also what shocked me was how opera can be comedic and it can be sung in any language, not just Italian. It was amazing to see a video of an Opera but sung in English. I have never seen that before.

What I also enjoyed from this class was learning how everything started relating to the Opera.
It makes me realize great things take time. Also the greatest things may not catch on quickly with society.
Opera is a great form of art and I enjoyed learning about it.

2/10 European Architecture and Traditions

I have a very strong desire to travel to Europe and see the beautiful building and architecture that they have there. I have never been to Europe or that side of the world.

I would love to see the Sistine Chapel and the old Cathedrals. Especially being a confirmed catholic, I feel obliged to see Europe, and especially the cathedrals at some point in my life.

I would also like to see the Catholic religion be more open and inviting to people within all the communities across the world.

I think the Catholic religion has a great set of traditions in place that a lot of people enjoy. Changes made here can be very controversial to a lot of families and Catholics.

2/3 Early Forms of Entertainment

Entertainment has evolved tremendously since Native Americans. With the evolution of entertainment, we do still use and enjoy some forms of ancient entertainment.

Sports and fighting have been around forever and did originate in the Roman Colosseum. There are also sources saying they originated in the Greek Amphitheater.

In todays modern world, we attend sports and fighting events by going to state of the art stadiums and arenas.

Action and R- rated movies are probably the closest thing to the violent and gruesome fights that were witnessed in the Roman Colosseum and Greek Amphitheater.

Response to Dr. Raul Cuero

I do not agree with Cuero's theory that we are lacking creativity in the world because we are distracted by technology. I think that the use of various softwares and technology influence creativity.

For example, programs that cost money and require a learning curve, such as adobe photoshop, adobe premier, adobe illustrator, and adobe light-room all enhance anyones creative idea, when they are used.

Any platform where you can be a voice online will give you the ability to be creative and share ideas with others, which will result in better ideas and collaboration.
